Like our Asia Options team, we know many of have been waiting for the opportunity to finally visit (or return to) Asia! Be it for work, study, or simply some long-awaited travel.
Asian countries are slowly opening up to the world again – and we have made it easy to get an idea of what your options are at the moment.

SOUTH KOREA
Travel: Foreigners travelling for tourism purposes are permitted entry into South Korea as of April 1, however visa exemption agreements with selected countries have been suspended.
Study: Foreign students are eligible for entry into South Korea
Business: Workers for specific indutries are permitted entry into South Korea
Quarantine/ Other Requirements:
People travelling into South Korea are required to present a negative PCR test before travel. From April 1, quarantine requirements are lifted for vaccinated travellers (you must register for a q-code here https://cov19ent.kdca.go.kr/cpassportal/biz/beffatstmnt/main.do?lang=en)
JAPAN
Travel: Tourists currently are restricted entry into Japan. Although the latest news suggests limited tourist entry as soon as this month, with much broader opening by June. Check official sources for the latest news.
Study: Foreign students are eligible for entry into Japan
Business: Foreigners planning on working in Japan must apply for a Certificate of Eligibility before entering
Quarantine/ Other Requirements:
People travelling into Japan are required to present a negative PCR test before travel and update quarantine location in advance on the ERFS (Entrants, Returnees Follow-Up System) System. After arriving, travellers are then required to quarantine at a government-approved facility.

INDONESIA
Travel: Foreigners travelling for tourism purposes are permitted entry into Indonesia
Study: Foreign students are able to enter the Indonesia with student visas.
Business: Foreign workers are permitted entry into Indonesia through work permits
Quarantine/ Other Requirements: none at time of writing
Travel: Foreigners travelling for tourism purposes are permitted entry into India.
Study: Foreign students are permitted entry into India.
Business: Foreign workers are permitted entry into India with an eligible work visa.
Quarantine/ Other Requirements:
Foreign travellers must complete India’s Air Suvidha Self Declaramtion Form before departure, containing information such as plane flights, place of stay, negative PCR test results and vaccination certificates. There is no need for quarantine and travellers only need to self-monitor themselves for symptoms.
Travel: Short term visitors are permitted entry into Singapore
Study: Student’s Pass holders studying in Singapore and their immediate family members are eligible for entry under the Student’s Pass Holder Lane
Business: Foreign workers are permitted entry into Singapore
Quarantine/ Other Requirements:
Foreigners travelling into Singapore will have to apply for Safe Travel Lanes before arrival and will be subjected to health-related protocols calibrated based on the traveller’s vaccination status and travel history.

Travel: Chinese authorities have restricted entry for foreign travellers
Study: Only a select amount of foreign students are allowed entry
Business: Businessmen and women are eligible to enter for business pruposes
Quarantine/ Other Requirements:
People travelling into China are required to present a negative PCR test before travel. After arriving, travellers are then required to quarantine at a government-approved facility.

Study: Most foreign students are permitted entry into Taiwan, but check for specific eligibility.
Business: Workers from select countries are eligible for entry upon application.
