Tara.Ed
Jennifer Star founded Tara.Ed in 2007 following her own volunteer teaching placement in India through World Vision. Jennifer experienced India’s extensive education system and students’ enthusiasm to learn, but saw a need to assist in providing more support to rural teachers.
Recognising that teachers are at the forefront of quality education, Tara.Ed delivers capacity building programs across India and Bangladesh. It primarily focuses on teacher development through its Teacher Training Programs and Teacher Tours.
Tara.Ed’s experienced training team work with local schools and community leaders to provide seminars and training modules as a part of the Teacher Training Program. The Teacher Tours places young Australian teachers in rural schools and facilitates collaborative teaching. Tara.Ed also partners with schools to enhance their resources and infrastructure, and provides scholarships to support girls to continue at school.

Tara.Ed Teacher Tours
Tara.Ed’s flagship programs, Teacher Tours, provide teaching students with the opportunity to take part in a professional teacher exchange program in a rural Indian school. The Tours’ main aim is knowledge sharing. You will learn from the dynamic Indian teaching environment and contribute to the school’s curriculum and teaching capabilities. As well as allowing the exchange of valuable professional skills, the Tours are a great way to experience India and its vibrant culture for the first time.
Each tour generally runs for three to six weeks, led by an experienced Tara.Ed staff member, and incorporates a structured academic program. If you are selected, you will also be provided extensive pre-departure briefings and training.
Remember, participation in a Tara.Ed study tour may also contribute to your teaching degree, so make sure you enquire with their friendly staff when you apply.
